Wiki

I like the idea of Wiki, both professionally and personally.  I think the public library where I work could use it as an area for comments or requests to purchase by patrons.  It would be interesting to see if any of our patrons use it on our public pcs.  Maybe a survey should be done?  Not sure about Wetpaint though ... if you want ads removed from your site, you will be charged $19.95 per month.  When joining up, you are required to enter your date of birth?  How is this relevant and in remaining anonymous, who will tell a little white lie??!!

  1. I agree. Also I didn't think Wet Paint was very user friendly!

  2. Wetpaint was totally a *insert negative sound effect here*!
I cant belive you have to pay to remove ads! I saw on wikipedia the other day, they are trying to raise money to keep the site ad free. Thats great, but I sure can find more worthy causes for my money!

  4. I didn't find the wetpaint section very easy to navigate. I was going round in circles till I finally found the help link in very small print down the bottom of the page and then went on to find that I needed a different browser in order to actually see the button that allows you to edit the Wiki!

  5. I like the idea of undertaking a survey to ascertain how many and what age group of patrons use wikis as I can see it as a tool to reach a wide range of the library community. A survey would tell us if this line of thinking is correct.
